In Honor of Our Friend and Colleague, Molly Hammer
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague and friend, Molly Hammer, in late 2020. She was a world class jazz singer, top notch musician, and we were lucky to work with her for just less than two years. We worked together at the Green Lady Lounge and Black Dolphin where Molly was gracious enough to sing my original vocal compositions. Our last performance together was at the Black Dolphin where we recorded a live album. It was wonderful to hear Molly sing my compositions!
I also want to thank John Scott, owner of the Green Lady Lounge and Black Dolphin jazz clubs in Kansas City, for introducing us. Without his foresight, we would not have collaborated and created such wonderful music together. We will never forget our beautiful time together with Molly.
New Releases!
Leslie Maclean Trio featuring Molly Hammer-Live at Black Dolphin! Available Here!
This recording features the original musical compositions and lyrics of pianist Leslie Maclean. These tunes have been written over the last several decades, and they reflect the depth that time and experience brings. Written in a classic jazz style, these tracks would have been considered mainstream in the 1960s. Now, there are very few artists writing in this style. Which all makes this a very special, new offering of classic sounding tunes.
Molly Hammer’s vocal prowess is well established and legendary in Kansas City. Her complete command of these tunes takes the listener on a wonderful ride. Recorded live at Kansas City’s Black Dolphin after a run of gigs at Green Lady Lounge playing and mastering this material, this recording is the real deal.

Love me or Leave me Listen & Purchase Here!
Joanna Berkebile, sought out for her compelling vocals and personable stage presence in the jazz clubs of Kansas City, has just released her much anticipated collection of classic jazz tunes.
The nine songs on this album cover a wide array of time periods, moods and styles. A few are standards to any jazz fan but a couple may catch you off guard. Even if you find yourself thinking “I’ve heard this one before”, you’ll quickly take back that thought after just a few bars of Leslie Maclean’s superb arrangements. “I wrote these arrangements specifically for this ensemble” says Leslie. “We deserve that and so does our audience.” Everything about the presentation of these tunes falls fresh on the ear.
